Better get used to weekends…

Wow, weekends are nice! It’s not necessarily the first weekend I’ve been at home, but it’s the first in over a year and a half that it’s normal. For most of the time Jenny and I have lived together, I’ve had to work weekends. I’ve taken a few off for vacations, sick, etc. but this has been nice. Knowing that I’ll be off on weekends from now on, and holidays, and being able to plan on it is wonderful.

Though it’s only Saturday night, it’s been a relaxing weekend already. We slept in this morning, went to Walmart and bought a new vacuum cleaner. I also got a new electric shaver; a really nice one. We bought some hamburgers, so I could grill them later, since we expected company in the form of Jenny’s three young cousins. They came over and had a swim, while I worked on scanning some pictures for them. In all, it was a nice time.

It was strange leaving work the other day, knowing that it was my last time. I was conscious of it the whole time, of course, but I don’t think it’s really sunk in just yet. Not until I’m driving to a new office, and NOT going to my old workplace will it truly dawn on me. I’m excited though, it’s like flipping a whole new page in my life. Indeed, I’m starting a new career on Monday; one that I’ve been trying to get into for years. Surely, that would be exciting for ANYONE. Now I just have to go do well at it. I don’t doubt that I will, but I have to prove myself, if only to myself.

Well, it’s been a long day, and I’m going to play some GTA IV before I go to bed.

My Career 3.0…

Wow, has it really been two months since I’ve updated this thing? I knew it had been awhile, but not THAT long.

I’ve actually been wanting to update recently, but have been waiting for the right moment. A couple of weeks ago, I got a call from my friend Matt, who let me know that there was a position that just opened up where he worked. He’s been there for some time and really seems to like it, so naturally, I was interested; not to mention that it was in the IT field, which I’ve been wanting to break into desperately for several years. I emailed him my resume, and went through an interview process, and was waiting to hear about whether I got the job or not.
