A Song of Ice and Fire is one of my favorite book series ever. It’s penned by an enormously talented writer, George R.R. Martin, and has even spawned an HBO series titled Game of Thrones, which premieres on April 17th, 2011. I can’t wait to dive into this television series, as it will bring to life the wonderful novels I’ve enjoyed so much.
However, I’m worried about my beloved books, as the timeframe involved with their publication seems to be growing longer and longer. For example, the latest novel in the series, A Dance With Dragons, is scheduled to be published on July 12th, 2011, nearly 6 years since the last volume in the series, A Feast For Crows. Ordinarily, this may not be that big of a surprise for people, except that A Feast for Crows was only half of a novel. It was taking Mr. Martin so long to complete the book that the publisher decided to break it into two. Only half of the characters from previous novels appeared in Crows. If A Dance With Dragons follows the initial reports, it’s the 2nd half of the novel. This is really just ridiculous.
